Ambra Sabatini on stage in Asti

.

Then paralympic champion on track on May 23th

One more star on the track in Asti. Ambra Sabatini, gold medalist in Tokyo Paralympics, world champion and world record holder in 100 meters T63 category, confirmes her participation in the Grifone Meeting – Città di Asti, scheduled for Thursday, May 23, at the Via Gerbi Campo Scuola.

Sabatini is one of the most prominent figures in international Paralympic sports. With Martina Caironi and Monica Contraffatto she was part of the famous “trio” that dominated Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2023 finals. This summer Sabatini will return to Stade de France to confirm her world leadership in 2024 Paralympic Games.

Born in Livorno in 2002, in 2019 Sabatini was involved in a car crash that led to the amputation of her left leg above the knee. A former middle-distance runner, she returned to competition in 2020, quickly becoming a standout figure in Paralympic sprinting. She set the T63 100 meters WR three times: 14”59 in Dubai and 14”11 in Tokyo in 2021, 13”98 in Paris last year.

Ambra Sabatini joins the high quality Grifone Meeting roster, leaded by Italian shot putter Leonardo Fabbri, silver medalist in Budapest 2023 WC and bronze in Glasgow 2024 Indoor WC. On May 1st in Pisa, Fabbri set a 22,88 meters PB, best world performance in 2024 and 7th all time. On stage also the other italian shot putter Zane Weir, gold medal in Istanbul 2022 EC indoor, the Kenyan 800-meter runner Ferguson Rotich, silver medalist in Tokyo Olympics and the 400-meter runner Leungo Scotch, 4×400 winner with Botswana Team in Nassau 2024 World Relays. .
